Birthday Wishes for John - 2003

October 9, 2003 would have been John Lennon's 63rd birthday. What better day is there to celebrate his life? Listen to some of his music or watch a Beatles movie you haven't seen in ages or splurge and go buy yourself that new Beatles book. Or better yet, do all the above! Here are messages by Bagism visitors about John and his birthday.

Yes, he would have been 63 today. That's the thought I awoke with. That's a thought I awake with every year on this day. Then I start wondering how many people in the world still remember this day. Not too many, I guess. But this isn't important because he will live forever, till his music and lyrics are alive. Please, play at least one of his songs today and make sure you get the meaning. Happy Birthday, John! Wherever you are.

When John died I was only 6 years old. However, I have been a great fan of his and the Beatles for many, many years and always will be. When I woke up this morning I thought - It's John's birthday today, if only he was still alive... He is so sadly missed!!!! Remember, it's also Sean's birthday!!

John made me want to pick up a guitar and write lyrics. He was a great talent taken from us far too young. Who knows what he would have achieved if he'd have lived? Perhaps he would have ended up as Mayor Of New York? Perhaps he would have pursued his art too? I'll be watching the Imagine film tonight and drinking a glass to his memory. Long Live the Lennon Legacy

I always confuse using "my idol" for John. Infact, he's not that kind! He's my friend. I love his rock, mad, wise & sometimes childlike character! Strangly enought, John's a kinda like spit out bad words but keep inside a beautiful soul! "Imagine", "Beautiful boy", "Free as a Bird" or even "Power 2 T People" prove that, right? No wish 4 you John! Might be that U're ruling a heavenly heaven up there in the sky! I Luv U! John!

We should always remember him! We need to absorb the words of YOKO ONO, "we should celebrate his birthday, not his death"!! He was a wonderful and peace loving person. LETS US NEVER FORGET HIM!!

John Lennon was right what he said about The Beatles in 1966: "We are more popular than Jesus Christ!" Because The Beatles music still lives on memories and also touched million's humans world a year after year. But God is a concept which is measured in our pain.

Once upon a tyme there was this boy namely John. He loverly played the beat music he loved. The nazis were bombing the place where his mother was having him so he came to her rescue and was born. He grew to be a British Beatle and continued playing the music he and the rest of the world loved him and his bandmates do. Sadly his band broke up but he and his Yoko girl didnt until 73 when he lost a weekend or 2. 1975 saw him with a card all green and back together happily with his Yoko woman which gave him a son newly born on his very birthday. A crazy deranged blue meanie with a head case shot our hero dead thus ripping the world and our hero off of years of enjoying life. Thus is how I celebrate his birth. I thank the Lord for the gifts that he gave John Lennon and that John was able to share with the world. Long Live Lennon!!!!!

Every year around this time I have mixed feelings whether I should or should not be happy that it's passed. Sure, I'm happy because we can commemorated Lennon on this day, but we should do that every day, if the thought comes to us. John, you are a great musical/political talent, and we'll never forget you!! Happy 63rd birthday... "You say it's your birthday"...

63 yrs ago today, John was born. I'm glad to say that I got to share most of the Beatle years with him, and up until the day he was taken from us. There is no one person that has had so much influence on me In My Life:) John, it's almost 1:00 pm, I wonder where you are now, are you celebrating with friends, or are you alone reading our birthday posts? Whichever, know that you are loved by many here, and wished the best and brightest of birthdays!!!

Like Tony below, I am wearing my self-portrait tie and will request Across the Universe on the noon radio call in show. I only wear this tie on 10/9 and 12/8, plus all weddings. I am no hero worshipper, as I imagine Lennon would hate that. But ever since 2/9/64 my life took a different path. He deserves recognition on his birthday as much as any human who ever lived. Peace to all of you, carry the weight....

Happy birthday, beautiful boys... I hate to be unoriginal, but I'm going to repeat my message from last year--the words still hold such truth: October 9, 2002 Dear dear John, what can I say? I am so in touch with your spirit and celebration of your life today, I feel like i just want to scream "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" out the window and expect you to hear it. I may just do that later, so perk up your ears haha. Whenever I immerse myself in your music, i feel you flow through me and affect me in such a positive way, I swear my little sessions with you are like some form of religion. And for that, I love you, and always will. I'm blasting Double Fantasy right now, missing you, and smiling. :) Love and Peace, Lucky Penny P.S. I'm 17...yup, I wasn't even alive in 1980. And yet you mean this much to me. Whaddya think about that? You're not too shabby, man ;)

I am playing Double fantasy in my office loudly enough for all who pass to hear. "Watching the Wheels" is on now. On my door is a Happy Birthay John poster that I made in 2001. Tonight I'll make a special vegetarian meal and watch one of my John Lennon videos. Most of all, I'm just feeling grateful for being born in 1957 and having an older sister who started playing Beatle singles before 1964. John's been a part of my life for about as long as I can remember. He has enhanced my life and made me not fear death.

If John Lennon would not have died... - he would bring joy to many people - he would be a pain in the ass of some people - he would have written a song for George Harrison - he would have beaten up the Gallagher-Brothers - the Dalai Lama and Nelson Mandela would not have to meet Bono "the Peacemaker" Vox every year - he would use a computer to make music - he would never sell his Epiphone guitar - he would surprise many old Beatles fans with his new music Happy Birthday, John. Like all of us, I suspect, his songs are inextricably tied to the events of my life, and I hope he would have appreciated this humble offering. Happy birthday, John, wherever you are. Marzipon a thyme in grotty old Livingpuddle there were a little boychik named Winston OBoogie. He were brought into the whirl in a big bang one night when Uncle Adolf were angry at the King and lobbing fireworks at him. Little Winston were a nervous boy, always afraid that some bangelous firebomb were about to drop on him and blow him to smitheroonies. It didnt help his nervishness when his Dada ran away to be a margarine seabobble, and his Mummikins were only just teaching him to play the banjolele when Mr. City Pleeceman came along and blew her mind out in a car. Little Winston were devastimated, and sat at home in his Ant Meanies hill playing singalongs on his banjolele all by his only. Soon enough little Winston found some other lost little boys who were playing a new type of music using only shoeboxes, coal scuttles and the foil caps from milk bottles. It were called Scuffle, and were all the rage in Livingpuddle, having been brought over by unravelling tailors from the Ignited Plates of Erotica. Many of these middleshipmen and navy beans were our darker bruthas, and the Upper Crusties found the Scuffle music scandalamious and likely to lead to dancing. Of course, their disapprovish expectorations only made little Winston and his friends, many of whom were already teddy bears, all the more enthustiastish and dedimated to perusing their moos. Soon they were listening to more music from Erotica, including Mr. Pelvis Treasury and Big Dick Penniman, not to mention Suck Cherry and Bobsy Holiday with his band, the Tickets. The music were hard to find in Livingpuddle, so they were forced to sit on hilltops around the city and watch for it to be flashed in morse code from pirate ships offshore. In the wayward course of things, little Winston were playing his banjolele with his Scufflers at an unfair ground when he met a luverly girlie-man named Polly Maggotknee. Polly were a banjolele player too, and knew many special ways to tie the banjolele cords. He showed these to young Winston, despite his hands being on backwards, and before too much thyme had goon buy, they were writing their very own singalongs to play with their Scuffle band. But the music had changed; it were no longer just Scuffle, it were now Rack and Reel. In dishonor of the occasion, Winston and Polly changed the name of the band from the Quarrelmonkeys to the Serious Moonpups, and then in a fit of pique, capriciousness and gas changed it again to the Sliver Bootles. Round about this timish (half-past 11, it were), they added yet another banjolele player to the group after he followed Winston home one day from the bus station and Ant Meanie said they could keep him. He were a hapless little thing called Curious George Harassedman. He had his own rack and reel band called the Rubbles, but looked up Winston a lot, so joined the Sliver Bootles to pray to the turd banjolele. They began writing more singalongs, recording many of them on a player piano that Winston had stolen from the church, sneaking it home beneath his halo. One lazy afternoon (it were probably a stupid bloody Tuesday) they took their drummybanger, Beat Worst, and a friend of Winstons named Stew Stutterstiff who played the large-mouthed bass banjolele, off to get some hamburgers on the Continent. After many adventurmications, smiles and stipulations, they learned that you have to be 64 to eat German hamburgers, and Curious George were too young. Naturally enough, they set fire to the building where the hamburgers were cooked, and came back to Livingpuddle with nothing but the shoes they stood up in and Winstons old player piano which they made Curious George carry everywhere. Somewhere along the way, they had lost Stew while they were getting their hair cut. Winston were very sad, and kicked Polly until he agreed to take up the large-mouthed bass banjolele. When they returned to Livingpuddle, they discovered that the hamburgers they had eaten had put new muscle on their rack and reel music. Suddenly all the kiddiewinkies wanted to hear their singalongs, and they got their lunches while being beaten by a cavemans club underground. They were beaten so hard that the Sliver fell off them, and they were just the Bootles. But no more hamburgers for these young floptops, as they were now called after being beaten so hard! No, no now they were dining on proper Livingpuddle clangers and mush, in an all-singing all-dancing rack and reel revue that made even the mumsies, dadas and a young queen named Bruin Hepstine take notice. Young Bruin worked for his dada at a little shop called Numbs, which had originally sold foot powder and orthopedic braces. Bruin convinced his dada that they should sell rack and reel records from a cart in the alley behind the shop. You needed to know the password and hold your head in a rather special way to get back there, but all the latest hot rack and reel by pro formas like Lean Millicent, Spank Larvin and the Shudders and even the Dentures were available for tuppence or a nice jam buttie. One day, a young feller-me-lad came by looking for a record called Why Ronnie? by Stony Sheratonhotel, backed up by our very own heroes the Sliver Bootles (as they were them, but playing as the Beak Bruvvas.) Young Bruin were intriguimated and curious like George to learn that these Bootles were being beaten by a cavemans club just down the street, so he minced off to see what all the fussimication and hollerballoon were about. When he got there, he found the young Bootles all greased up and pushed into tight black leather. He were instantly turgid, but sublimated his dirty feelings into professional curiosity, thinking that he could soon enough get Winston alone for a little poke and tickle. Winston were not as green as he were cabbage-looking, though, and saw through young Bruins facadimication and glad-handedness. He wants to bugger me, he thought, But perhaps it would help the band. In the fullness of time (roughly 20 minutes), Bruin had secured for the Bootles a recording contract, written on the back of a bus timetable and signed in Victoria Station, with Mr. Royal George Aston-Martin of Parley-Vous Records. This contact guaranteed the Bootles sixpence hapenny for every ten billion records they sold, provided they got rid of Beat Worst and replaced him with someone with a sillier name who would wear his head the same way up as the rest of the band. So they got a new drummybanger named Bingo Scar, who had earned his name in the tough Bingo halls of Livingpuddle wrestling grannies for their pension money. By teatime, singalongs like Lob My Dew, I Want to Scold Your Band, Please Tease Me and many more were bankrupting small countries as people rushed in screaming throngs to throw money at the Bootles. They called it Bootle Meanier, and Ant Meanie were a bit irritimicated by that, so Winston bought her a castle in Sweden to appease her. By the next morning, they had even conquered Erotica, with the help of a funny little man called Dead Silly-Ham and his TV gardening show. They were installed as joint Kings of the World, and the rest is His Story. I shall leave it for another time to tell you about Colonel Poppers Only Darts Club, Pokemono the Yellow Peril, the Bootles brake job, Winstons only rack and reel, and his sad demise in South Dakota at the nasty hands of Dark Rabid Madman. For now, let us leave the young Bootles where they should be, happy and well-fed, living it up in Livingpuddle.

John Lennon was and still is a very special and gifted soul. He left the world lots to be thankful for, his wonderful, touching music, as well as a hope for peace and love. We should all strive to keep John's legacy alive and pray for peace and love all over the world. Though it seems the idea of achieving genuine peace and love among people everywhere is diminishing as the years go by, we mustn't give up hope. John would want it this way I'm sure. Happy birthday John! My love to Yoko, Julian, and Sean. And to Sean, happy birthday to you too! And to all my fellow John fans reading this, I wish you peace and love . . .

Happy Birthday John! It was about a year ago when I fell in love with the Beatles and it wasn't long until I discovered you were my favorite. You give me such inspiration. You're the reason I'm now taking guitar lessons, I listen to you and the Beatles almost every day. You were such a wonderful guy. I've told everyone I know how great you are, I've made all of my friends mix cds with alot of your songs and hope they will love you as much as me. You were the most talented and incredible person I knew of. I watched the Imagine film and cried. Happy Birthday, and I still Imagine.

Of course I am not really the President but if I were to celebrate John Lennon's birthday in a true American way, here is what I would do: I'd throw away all the bombs and guns and the wars and make sweet love to you! Singing...joy to the world...all the boys and girls...joy to the fishies in the deep blue sea...joy to you and me!

Just sitting here listening to 'Watching the Wheels' and 'Starting Over' - and remembering those far-off days 40 years ago when I watched John and the other lads down at the Cavern in Liverpool on the threshhold of changing the world. The Lennon mix of sarcasm, scouse wit, and arrogance, against a background of hurt and resentment, lifts him far above any other contemporary songwriter. Signing off now to 'Beautiful Boy' and 'Woman'. If Yoko reads this, we love you Yoko, you made a difference to John's life and we thank you. It was great to see you looking so great on the Jonathan Ross show.

Oh John, you turned me on to the Beatles around the time of your death last year, and I can't shake the feeling that it was Instant Karma... I have grown to love you, feel like I know you, and hope to meet you someday, somewhere... I wish from the bottom of my soul you would have been able to live and spread the word of Peace and Love to everyone, everywhere, and I often ponder what the world would be like if you had. You've inspired me to do so many things I never thought possible, and for that, I am forever grateful. And Yoko, I am sorry for your loss and commend you for all you've done in the wake of this tragedy. I know you and John would have been unstoppable... Imagine! Happy Birthday, John. I love you!

Happy Birthday, John. 63, wow! I doubt you would have been an old fart like some at that age, because you were always the coolest guy I've never met. You continue to influence my life everyday, as you have for the past 10 years (I'm 20 now). Man, it's been ten years since you became the part of my life that you are, and my love for you and your music and views has not diminished, nor will it ever. I am thankful that on the anniversary of your passing, I got to proclaim my love for you on public radio (AM 880), and also have my voice ring out over everyone's during the radio broadcast of us singing your songs. Thank you for a great ten years of continuing influence, and your influence on me has yet to stop, it probably never will. Everyday I thank God that you graced this planet, with your music and a lesson in how humanity should be. Happy Birthday, John, I miss you everyday. Oh, and a happy 28th to Sean as well.

I think John would be a cool old guy if he was alive today. 63 years! Man, I can't imagine it. He'd probably be singing songs about growing old with style. I couldn't think of it any other way, of course...I can't begin to imagine what he'd be like because no one knows. John was so unpredictable. He was cutting-edge and always doing something different. But if he was alive today, he'd probably say, "My God, my youngest son is now 28. Bloody hell. That went by quick."

John Lennon's 63rd....where does the time go? I have no doubt that, were he alive, John would be sitting with his beloved Yoko, "watching the wheels go 'round and 'round ". The best way to celebrate this day is to keep peace in your heart. If you have peace in your heart, you live in a peaceful world. Let your peaceful example inspire others. " I hope someday you'll join us; then the world will live as one. " Peace and Joy to all.

I'm proposing a toast tonight, to all the fellow Lennon fans who are out there. Drinking to the remembrance of a true man, and musician. Celebrating his birthday. There isn't much I can contribute here. No words, or thoughts that have not been spoken or already expressed. John is my hero. John is my idol. He is my brother, my father, and my best friend. His love came first over everyone and everything else in this world. Nothing every stood in the way or altered his love for Yoko. He allowed her to perform with him live and accompany him on records. She wasn't the greatest artist of all time... but that was "his" love. Performing by his side. Nothing else mattered. That's a real man. A true human being for that matter. He stood by her. She gave him the time of his life... Yoko. We need to take his unrelenting devotion to his lover and set it as an example to use in our own relationships. And for those of you that skip past Yoko's songs, on his "Double Fantasy", "Mild and Honey", and other compact discs take this to heart. I think he would be much happier if we were taking the initiative to appreciate his wife's music and listening to the albums the way they were intended to have been. Im here listening to all my Lennon albums, without using the skip button. I will be playing them until I fall asleep. Happy Birthday John!

Hello I am 33 years old and did not know too much about John Lenon and the Beatles other than their music until a couple of years ago. That's when I started working with Dan Alice who wrote and interesting novel on the circumsances and coincidences surronding Lennon's death. Since then I have learned so much and think he is a fascinating individual. I wanted to let everyone know that my friend will have an interview in celebration of Lennon's birthday tomorrow night in Toronto on Mojo Radio. It will be broadcast on the internet to via www.mojoradio.com if you are interested. I will post the announcement for it here to. Let me know what you think. I hope you all enjoy remembering Lennon on this day. Sincerely, Eric Bonnici www.onceaman.com Numerology, Astrology and the Life and Death of John Lennon Toronto's Mojo Radio discusses the chilling synchronicities connected to Lennon's' life and death the day after his birthday. Windsor, ON, Oct 9, 2003 - Richard Syrett, the host for Mojo Radio 630 A.M. in Toronto, will interview author Dan Alice to commemorate John Lennon's birthday. The interview will focus on more than 20 years of research Dan Alice has conducted on the circumstances surrounding John Lennon's murder. His unique perspective shows many strange coincidences linked to John Lennon's death that began unfolding exactly 13 years before he was murdered. Dan's research and insights resulted in the novel, Once A Man Twice A Child, Part I: Tomorrow Never Knows, to be published by Undivide in Windsor Ontario, on December 8, 2003. On Friday October 10, 2003, Mojo Radio will interview Dan Alice, exposing his compilation of facts and interpretations to the public. The Mojo Radio interview will discuss the novel, Dan's research on Lennon's death, and the author's true life experiences. Including how as a child the unexplainable terror he felt while hearing the song 'I Am The Walrus' for the first time on its release date December 8, 1967 didn't make any sense to him. Dan explains, "The end of the song frightened me because I wasn't sure if the voice of someone dying while others desperately tried to save that person at the end of the song were real or just my imagination." The terror lingered in Alice's subconscious until it became the focus of his attention as an adult years later while he was watching a football game. While Alice watched a Monday Night Football game between Miami and New England on December 8, 1980, sportscaster Howard Cosell announced that John Lennon had been murdered in New York City. At that moment Dan Alice intuitively felt a connection between the terror he felt in 1967 and Lennon's death. He explains, "I was shocked and immediately thoughts of my childhood experience in 1967 reclaimed my attention. The same panic I felt then had returned to fill my heart and mind." Not knowing what the exact connection between the two were he researched the song and learned that indeed Lennon's death came on the anniversary date of the song's release, exactly 13 years earlier. Alice also unexpectedly discovered that John Lennon had superimposed the voices of a scene from Shakespeare's King Lear, where someone was dying and people tried desperately to save that person, onto the end of 'I Am The Walrus'. Dan states, "I was bewildered when I realized that as a child back in 1967 it wasn't my imagination at all. Those ghastly sounds were indeed very real." This inspired Alice to continue researching the subject. After 20 years of research, Alice's information snowballed into a wonderland of facts that he examined through numerological and astrological interpretation. That's when the connection between the song I am the Walrus and John Lennon's Death all began to make sense to him. Dan believes the entire situation he experienced in l967 was an explicit prophecy of John Lennon's future death. He plans to reveal the complete details during the exclusive radio interview with Richard Syrett. The interview can be heard on 640 A.M. in the Toronto area or worldwide on the Internet at www.mojoradio.com on Friday, October 10, 2003 at 11:00 p.m. Syrett will be giving away several free copies of the novel to randomly selected listeners who call the radio station during the interview. For more information, visit www.onceaman.com or contact, Eric Bonnici, Operations Manager, Undivide Publishing at 519-981-4599 or email [email protected].

I love John Lennon. For John's birthday I did most of the same things my fellow lennon fans did- listen to old solo records, Beatle records etc. Oh, and I have a huge poster of John's face hanging about my computer, so I sang Happy Birthday to him earlier. I spent most of my time packing because I'm going out of town this weekend, but tomorrow I have to play guitar for some people, and I am going to play a John Lennon song as a tribute. I think its time people start striving for peace. Marijuana needs to be legalised all over. Only hemp can save the world. Gods gift for my brothers and me. I dont think lennon would appreciate wats hapenning in the world these days especially wat the USA is doing. The full world seems to be targeting our Muslim brothers here in India...the hindus and muslims have been fighting for centuries. no isreal usa and india are joing hands to fight terrorism (muslims)....i feel we are heading towars hate and not peace. we need to live in harmony like how gandhi taught us. watch less television do more social work awaken more people for a better green world.

Well, first of all I want to thank John for saving me last Thursday (9th). Thanks to him I didn't miss an important test. You see, my alarm didn't go off for some reason but I had another alarm set on my phone, reminding me to get some Johnny L. CDs on his birthday. This is what woke me up and I didn't miss the test. So - Thanks John! And Happy birthday! All I can do (and did) for John's birthday is to listen to the music, watch Imagine and I signed up for some peace/charity work. He reminded me to care for others. Thanks again. And I hope I'll force myself to finally write reviews on some of his albums. Happy birthday John.

I hoped to hear some Lennon songs in the radio or to see some documentary on TV - but there wasnt anything like that in Germany. Its a pity. They only play the commercial up-to-date songs or oldies that you dont like to hear anymore, as they are heard too often. Anyway.... Happy Birthday, John and Sean!
